Solution 1: Restart QuickBooks Database Server Manager

  1. Click the Windows Start key and search QuickBooks database server manager using the Windows search option.
  2. Click the program from the results that appear on the screen.
  3. Now click the Start Scan option to locate the company file on the server computer.
  4. You can also browse the company file to select it.
  5. Once the file is selected from the QuickBooks database server manager, run QuickBooks Desktop and check if you are now able to access the company file now.

Solution 2: Restart QBCFMonitor Service

Press Windows

  1. + R to get the Run command box.
  2. Enter Services.msc in the text box and click OK.
  3. Now Windows will display the list of all the services that are running on it.
  4. Locate and select QBCFMonitor service and select Restart from the left pane.
  5. Go back to QuickBooks and check if this solution helps you resolve the error.

Solution 3: Reconfigure Hosting on the Server and Workstations

  1. Run QuickBooks Desktop on the server and click the File tab.
  2. From under the Utilities section, verify the hosting settings.
  3. The server must be running QuickBooks in Multi-User mode and the workstations in single-user mode.
  4. Try to access the company file once again.
