Stacey Dash has revealed for the first time that she was addicted to the prescription opioid Vicodin.
‘I was taking 18 to 20 pills a day,’ the 54-year-old actress admitted to , adding that she ‘lost everything’ due to the expensive nature of the highly addictive habit.
Dash, who recently celebrated five years of sobriety, labeled her addiction her ‘deepest, darkest secret’ in a Facebook post teasing her appearance on Thursday’s episode.

While speaking to Dr. Oz, the Clueless star said overcoming her addiction helped heal her animosity towards her ‘sick’ parents, who also suffered from drug addiction during their lives.
‘I’m clean five years and in this five years, my greatest blessing is that not only have I been able to be honest with myself and become a better person — but I’ve been able to understand my parents and that they did love me and that they were doing the best they could and that they were just sick, they were addicted,’ she told the host.
Stacey’s mother Linda and father Dennis have since passed away.
Dr. Oz remarked to Dash that a Vicodin addiction is ‘expensive,’ with the citing that the average street price per pill can range from $5 to $25.

‘Yeah, valley medical weight loss I lost everything,’ Stacey replied.
In her Facebook post, the New York native thanked the Lord and her support system for ‘being able to say that I have grown more over the last 5 years than I have in my entire life.’
She continued: ‘I am so blessed to be surrounded by people who have loved and supported me through my most challenging time. Thank you all!’

Stacey encouraged others who have ‘a story they are scared of telling to share it with the world’ because they ‘never know who will be able to relate to you and who it can help.’
The Dr. Oz Show shared another clip from Thursday’s show to their website, which saw the actress address some of her past controversies.
Specifically, the actress was suspended – and then let go – from her correspondent position on Fox News after she cursed on the air during an angry rant about then President Barack Obama.
